The school was delighted to welcome Professor Robert Winston who spoke to Senior House boys at assembly on Friday 4th November. The Professor talked about his long and varied career as a scientist and how science affects every aspect of modern life ranging from the environment to disease control. He said that discipline was an important attribute to being a successful scientist and that pupils should view failure as a route success. To illustrate this point he gave the example of an experiment started thirty-two years ago to which there is still no clear outcome. Working with others as part of a team was cited as an essential ingredient in academe and all walks of life.

There was plenty of opportunity for the boys to ask questions and the Professor was impressed by their scope and incisiveness. This was the first lecture in the series to be live-streamed to parents.
