Visit of Father Thomas Crean, OP to St. Anthony’s

On Friday, 30th September, Father Thomas Crean, OP, spoke to the boys of the Senior House. Early in the term the boys were briefed about his visit and given the opportunity to think of their most pressing question to ask him when here.  Father Thomas, a priest in the Dominican Order based in Leicester, gave an informative talk to the boys.  As he told the assembly, this visit took place on the anniversary of his own baptism.

Some of the questions asked ranged from the personal to theological to practical: Why did you decide to take the path of God and when did you realise you wanted to be a priest? How do you as a Dominican live your daily life?  How do you know you are interpreting the Bible in the way God intended? Do you feel God’s presence when you are praying? When science and religion collide, which side do you take as a Christian?

Questions from the boys were very insightful, the answers equally so, and the boys listened intently to the talk.
