Richard Berlie

Richard Berlie

Richard attended the Salesian College in Battersea before going up to Magdalene College, Cambridge, where he read History. Richard remained at Cambridge on graduating to undertake a PGCE, before going on to teach History and History of Art at Wymondham College and Ampleforth. At Ampleforth, he was the Tutor for Scholars. Richard returned to the south when he was appointed Head of History and Politics, Head of Humanities and Tutor for the More Able at Emanuel School in Wandsworth. Senior leadership positions followed as Head of the Upper School at Dulwich College and Vice Principal (Academic) at MPW Independent Sixth Form College. He has been Headmaster of St Anthony’s since September 2020.

Richard’s vision for education is holistic and he believes in the provision of high-quality academic teaching alongside sport, music, drama and a varied co-curricular programme. He wants the pupils of St Anthony’s to have a strong intellectual, moral and spiritual formation that will offer a compass for life.

In his spare time, Richard enjoys going to the gym, playing the violin, listening to the music of J.S. Bach, travelling and spending time with his two miniature dachshunds.

Catherine Arslan

In 2001, Catherine joined the St. Anthony’s family as a Year 5 Class Teacher. The wellbeing of each child remains at the heart of Catherine’s educational philosophy, which made her appointment as Head of PSHEE and Senior Teacher particularly apposite.

She was a key member of the senior team that steered the school through two excellent ISI inspections. A twenty-year connection with the school, including educating her own son here, Catherine continues to work on putting the boys first in her role as in her role as Senior Deputy and Head of Safeguarding.

Nada joined St. Anthony’s in September 2021. She entered the teaching profession after working both nationally and internationally in legal and oilfield services sectors. Her diverse background spans both state and independent schools and covers all age groups from Reception to Year 8. 

Nada has progressed from a class teacher to roles in middle management and senior leadership, gaining a wealth of experience along the way. Since January 2021, in her role as Head of Maths, she has led the department to achieve outstanding academic success.  Nada is passionate about teaching and learning, with a particular focus on providing pupils with opportunities to realise their full potential and build strong foundations for future academic excellence.

Jonathan graduated with a degree in Journalism before completing a PGCE. His first post was as a teacher of PE and assistant housemaster at Bedford School (HMC) where he also qualified as a Cricket Professional.

Jonny joined St. Anthony’s in 2017 as Director of Sport, and his portfolio was extended to include Head of the Junior House in January 2021. He holds the position of Assistant Head.

Loraine Nunez

Loraine holds a BA in Religious Studies and Education Studies with Spanish from Middlesex University, a PGCE from St Mary’s University, Twickenham, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Special Educational Needs and Disability. She has held a range of leadership and support roles in Catholic schools across London, including Class Teacher, PGCE lead, Head of Department, Gifted and Talented Coordinator, Head of Year, and SENCO. Before joining St Anthony’s in 2022, she was the Special Educational Needs Coordinator at Belmont Prep. At St Anthony’s, Loraine serves as Head of Learning Support and Senior Teacher, and more recently, as Initial Teacher Training Lead.

Emma Hollender

Head of Science, Registrar

Emma holds a Master of Chemistry from Durham University. Following an industrial placement year at Pfizer in Research Analytics, she joined a global consultancy firm, as a project management analyst, specialising in technology consulting for the retail sector.

She retrained as a teacher with TeachFirst and spent several years teaching science in different schools - a state coeducational academy, a leading grammar school and a girls' independent secondary school. She then changed career to become a civil servant, working for the Cabinet Office and the Department for Levelling Up. Later, she became Head of Office and Speechwriter for a Cabinet Minister. She joined St Anthony's in October 2023, and became Registrar and more recently, Head of Science.

Rishi Vandera

Rishi Vadera

Rishi holds a BSc and an MSc in Psychology from UCL and a PGCE. He was Head of English at South Hampstead Junior School, Humanities Lead at The Rosary Catholic Primary School and a Year 6 Teacher at Ark Franklin. He joined St Anthony’s as Head of Humanities in September 2024.

Nicola has a Business degree from Swinburne University, Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education from Southern Cross University. She has experience of working in independent schools, early learning schools and primary schools. She joined St Anthony’s in September 2024.

Krupa Joshi

Krupa studied Geography at the University of Birmingham and completed her PGCE at the UCL Institute of Education. She is currently completing a Senior Leadership qualification at this institution. She has taught across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in a variety of independent and state schools. She joined St Anthony’s in September 2022.

Rebecca earned a Diploma of Higher Education in Psychology from James Cook University and a Bachelor of Education - Primary, majoring in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, from Queensland University of Technology. She later completed postgraduate study in Religious Education at the Australian Catholic University. She taught in a number of Catholic independent schools in Australia before relocating to the UK. She joined St Anthony’s in September 2024.

Elizabeth studied Applied Social Science at the University of York. During this time, she undertook short placements in schools. On graduating, the stayed on at York to complete a PGCE in Primary Education. On gaining Qualified Teacher Status, she worked as a Year 6 teacher at Hampden Gurney School in Westminster. She joined St Anthony’s in September 2025.

Claire studied Education with Art Specialism at the University of Reading. She was a class teacher and Head of ICT at the Hurlingham School in Putney. She joined St Anthony’s in 2000. During her time at the school, she has taught a wide variety of subjects to younger pupils and has taken a particular interest in the creative arts.

Natalie studied Media Arts and Sociology at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, where she also completed her PGCE. She began her teaching career at a Catholic school in Surrey, where she remained for six years. She then moved to Queen’s College Preparatory School. She joined St Anthony’s in September 2021.

Paul studied Primary Education at St Mary’s University, Twickenham. He gained extensive experience of teaching in the maintained sector, where he held subject leadership and phase leader responsibilities. He also worked as a mentor and assessor for newly qualified teachers. He joined St Anthony’s in September 2021 where, in addition to his role as a Year 5 form tutor, he serves as Digital Literacy Lead and Reading Lead.

Georgina studied Education at the University of York and then went on to complete a PGCE in General Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status and a Masters degree in Education at the University of Cambridge. She began her teaching career at a junior school in East London as a Year 5 teacher and Head of Geography. She joined St Anthony’s in September 2022. In addition to her responsibilities as a Year 5 form tutor, she is the whole-school Data and Assessment Lead. She founded the school’s Geography Society, coaches games and recently completed an educational leadership qualification at UCL.

Aoife McCloskey

Aoife McCloskey

Aoife graduated from the University of Otago with a BA in History and English before completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Teaching at the New Zealand Graduate School of Education. She began her teaching career at Parkview Parua School, spending three years primarily teaching Year 7 and 8 pupils. During this time, Aoife held several key leadership roles, including Team Leader of the senior school, Data Lead, and Head of Wellbeing. After leaving New Zealand, Aoife worked as a contractor in the field of Artificial Intelligence before returning to the classroom to teach Year 3 at St Anthony's School for Boys in January 2025.

Sarah studied Early Childhood Studies at Kingston University and London Metropolitan University. Her experience includes roles in the nursery at St Mary’s School, Hampstead and in The Minors Nursery School, as well as establishing and managing a nursery in Mill Hill. She has progressed from Early Years Practitioner and Lead Practitioner to her current role as Head of Nursery at St Anthony’s, which she joined in April 2024.

Nahid Sheikh

Nahid has a BSc in Psychology from the Open University. She began her teaching career at Kennedy House Montessori School, working with Reception pupils. She then moved to Sinclair House School, working initially in the nursery. Immediately before starting at St Anthony’s, she worked at St John’s Wood Pre-Preparatory School, where she taught Science and History. She joined the St Anthony’s Nursery in September 2024.

Amanda holds a Bachelor of Education Degree from the Institute of Education, London University. She has dedicated nearly three decades to early childhood education. Her background includes eighteen years as a Nursery Nurse at The Rosary Roman Catholic school, ten years as an Early Years Practitioner at Northbridge House Preparatory School, and one year as a permanent Flex Staff member at Bright Horizons Day Nursery in JW3. She joined St Anthony’s in September 2024.

Asyun has a degree in Business Management from the University of Mersin in Turkey. She also holds a Higher National Diploma in Child Development from Leap Training. She is passionate about the importance of Early Years Education and sets great store by forming strong bonds with the children with whom she is working. She joined St Anthony’s in March 2025.

Katie completed Level 1 and Level 2 Early Years Educator qualifications while she was at secondary school. She then earned the Level 3 qualification while undertaking an apprenticeship at N16 Tots, which is an independent private nursery. For four years, she held the position of Room Leader in the baby room.

Anastasia studied Philology at the University of Ioannina, Greece and has a Masters degree in Comparative Literature from King’s College, London. She joined St Anthony’s as Head of Classics in 2023. She combines this role with teaching Modern Greek to adults at the Hellenic Centre of London and to secondary students at St Sophia’s School.

Anthony studied Ancient History at the University of Bristol and completed a PGCE at the Institute of Education, University of London. After spending three years as a class teacher at Grafton Primary School, he joined St Anthony’s in 2005. He has taught History, Geography, RE and ICT and acted as a form tutor. He coaches games to all age groups and oversees after-school clubs and societies, First Aid training and Health & Safety.

Bethan studied Modern Languages at Durham University, during which she spent a year in France and Argentina. She completed her PGCE at Cambridge University. She initially taught English abroad. On returning to the UK, she worked in mainstream education. She holds a Level 5 Diploma in teaching learners with dyslexia and other barriers to literacy.

Beren completed a Diploma in Film and Television Production at South Seas Film School in New Zealand and went on to work in the film industry for seven years. Following this, he pursued a Bachelor of Education, majoring in Primary teaching, at the University of Auckland. He then spent three years teaching Art and Drama at Auckland Normal Intermediate before relocating to the UK. He joined St Anthony’s in 2023.

Lorna studied Product Design at the University of Sussex. On graduating, she worked as a learning support assistant at Tylers Green Middle School. She then completed an in-house PGCE with a Maths specialism. She was a class teacher at King’s Cross Academy. During her final year in this position, she was Head of Key Stage 2 Maths. She joined St Anthony’s in September 2025.

Maria studied French at the University of Athens and went on to obtain a Masters degree in Teaching French as a Foreign Language from the University of Patras. She is also qualified to teach English as a Foreign Language and Italian. As well as teaching, she has worked as a translator. She has taught languages at nursery, primary, prep school and academy levels. She joined St Anthony’s in September 2024. In addition to teaching French to all age groups, she runs languages and linguistics clubs at the school.

Oskar hold a Science degree from Loughborough University. He worked as a PE and Maths teacher at Wilmslow High School, obtaining Qualified Teacher Status while in post. He was a rugby coach for Bedford School and also Loughborough University. He has played rugby professionally for Wasps, England Sevens and Bedford. He continues to play, representing Sale F.C. and Blackheath. He joined St Anthony’s in March 2024.

While raising her family, she redeveloped a strong interest in education, becoming actively involved in school governance for almost a decade. This experience deepened her passion for education and led to continued engagement in a variety of school administration roles.
