On Friday, we were delighted to welcome the acclaimed author Chris Bradford to our school. Renowned for inspiring boys to develop a love of reading, Chris has written a wide range of popular books, including the Young Samurai, Bodyguard and Luna series. Throughout the day, pupils took part in engaging workshops based on his books, which they thoroughly enjoyed. One of the highlights was the Young Samurai session, where Chris demonstrated samurai sword techniques, leaving many of the boys eager to have a go themselves. Years 3 and 4 particularly enjoyed exploring the exciting space adventures of Luna and learning about the challenges faced by its characters, while Years 7 and 8 were captivated by a fascinating discussion of Bodyguard, including an exploration of gender roles within the profession. Chris also held a book signing, with many pupils taking the opportunity to purchase signed copies of his books. The day concluded with a special Q&A session in the school library for some of our most enthusiastic readers, who asked thoughtful questions about Chris's experiences as an author, what inspires his writing, and how he develops his ideas. We thoroughly enjoyed welcoming Chris Bradford to our school and his visit has given an even greater boost to our mission of inspiring a lifelong love of reading among our pupils.
