The boys have enjoyed a wealth of opportunities to participate in competitions and quizzes throughout the academic year, spanning a wide range of disciplines including History, Creative Writing, General Knowledge, Reading, Mathematics and Computing. A select group of pupils from Years 7 and 8 also represented the school at the prestigious residential Da Vinci Decathlon competition.

Highlights from the year include:

• Ned was awarded First Prize in the D.H. Lawrence Children's Writing Competition for his story The Weight of a Ticket.
• Elliott participated in the ISEB Time to Write competition, where his work was recognised as Highly Commended.
• For the first time in the school's history, nine pupils from Years 7 and 8 participated in the UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge, with three receiving awards: two Silver Certificates (Year 7) and one Bronze Certificate (Year 8).
• Forty-one pupils from Years 6–8 took part in the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge, with an impressive 66% receiving a certificate, the highest proportion in recent years. Of these awards, 20% were Gold Certificates and seven pupils qualified for the follow-on Grey Kangaroo round.
• The Junior Mathematical Challenge proved equally successful. Seventy-eight percent of participating pupils received a certificate, with 77% of Gold Certificate recipients qualifying for follow-on rounds. Four pupils qualified for the Junior Mathematical Olympiad and twelve for the Junior Kangaroo. Notably, pupils were awarded two Certificates of Distinction, one Certificate of Merit and two Certificates of Qualification in these subsequent rounds.
• A team of four pupils from Years 3–6 reached the national finals of the National General Knowledge Quiz, competing at the University of Oxford and finishing in an excellent 20th place nationally.
• A team of four pupils (Years 5 and 6) qualified for the national finals of the National Maths Quiz, also held at the University of Oxford, where they finished in a highly commendable 21st place nationally.
• A team comprising three Year 7 pupils and one Year 8 pupil competed in the prestigious UKMT Team Maths Challenge, achieving an outstanding 6th place finish.
• For the first time, pupils participated in the UK Bebras Challenge. Impressively, a Year 5 pupil and a Year 7 pupil each achieved 1st place nationally in their respective Challenge rankings.
• One Year 8 pupil, who will be joining Harrow School, was awarded the prestigious Clay Prize in recognition of his exceptional performance in the Geography Common Entrance examinations.

There is considerably more that could be included; however, it is to be hoped that the above provides a flavour of the breadth of opportunities available to our pupils and the remarkable successes they have achieved this year.
