World Book Day – 2025

Posted: 8th March 2025

On Friday, St Anthony’s celebrated World Book Day. It was wonderful to see so many of the boys and staff in their different costumes! This year, the 30th anniversary of the first World Book Day, saw a focus on what holds pupils back from reading and what we can do to inspire younger generations to develop a passion for and lifelong love of reading. Senior House assembly focused on what we enjoy about reading books and several boys shared speeches they had compiled under the title ‘what reading means to me’. In the Junior House, the boys were treated to having ‘mystery readers’ arrive in their classroom and share their favourite books with them. The boys were also reminded about how they can regularly utilise the St Anthony’s libraries and how so far this year 446 books have been borrowed in the Senior House! Our target of 1000 books read by the end of the academic year is still very much on! We hope the boys enjoyed the day and we hope to see a busy library next week!
